| ABOUT
CAMP SLADDIN The campsite was obtained thanks to the foresight of the then Scout District Commissioner Colin Browne and the Scouters of the day who saw the fun and achievement youth experienced when taking part in camping and outdoor activities. They foresaw the need for a good basic training facility to use for all Scouting people in South Auckland as well as for other organisations in the community. The campsite was named after Len Sladdin who had served as a Scouter in Clevedon in the early days of Scouting in New Zealand and who was still a member of Scouting when the camp was set up. |
