Scouting Sunrise
Scouts all over the World met at 8am on the 1st August 2007 to celebrate 100
years of Scouting
To mark the occasion Scouting Manukau met at dawn on Stockade hill in Howick,
Mangere Mountain, and Omana Park at Maraetai and reaffirmed their Scout Promise.
At Stockade Hill 8 Scouts were invested, making them possibly the first Scouts
in the World to be invested at the start of the 2nd 100 years of Scouting.

Scouts Navigation Course
90 Scouts and leaders spent the day at sea on board the MV Explorer and
completed the requirements for their Navigation Badge. 11 Scouts and 3 leaders
achieved 95% for the exam held at the end of the day.

Cubs Section Out & About
Course
12 leaders enjoying dinner at the Cub Section "Out
and About" course at Camp Schlaepher near Pukekohe.
This course teaches leaders the skills needed design a great camp programme and
to safely take Cubs camping

ANZAC Day
Comemorations
Over 150 Keas, Cubs,
Scouts, Venturers and their Leaders gathered at the Centotaph in Howick at 11am
on Anzac Day to join the World War II, Malaysia, Korean and Veitnam war veterans
as they marched to the Cenotaph. The Scouts were part of the biggest parade seen
at this event over the last 2 or 3 decades. A 45 minute service was held on a
calm but very hot day and then the Scouts marched to the Returned Servicemens
Club for soft drinks before returning home.

1st April 2007
The Launching of Cutter 278
The new sailing and rowing cutter Number 278 owned by
Buckland Beach Sea Scouts was launched at Farm Cove in Pakuranga on April 1st.
The Cutter was named "The Graeme Brown" after the retiring Group
Leader.

3rd March 2007
The Cub Pirate Camp
Held at Camp Sladdin for St Annes, 1st Manurewa and 1st Puhinui Cub Packs.
Two leaders, Geoff (Papatoetoe East Group) and Judith (St Annes Group) wearing their new Bronze Tiki Awards for completing 15 years service to Scouting and the community.The
Awards were presented at the Camp by David Thorpe
(Zone Leader).
